Selection, matte, and masking tools that isolate subjects, keyed colours, luminance ranges, or hand-built regions.

Choose a tool

Use Select for a hand-built or automatic subject selection. Use Key to turn brightness or colour into transparency. A mask folder applies those results to another layer or group.

Key

Convert luminance or colour ranges into alpha so lower layers show through selected parts of the image.

Use it in the app

Open a project and find Select & Mask in the effects picker. Choose the specific tool, then select its layer in Layers to open the Effect Panel. Related modes may share a mode dropdown at the top of that panel. The pages below explain source requirements, first adjustments and conditional controls for each tool.
