Byte & Color Damage
Damage bytes, colour precision, compression blocks, teletext rows, wavelets, and sample timing.
Choose a tool
Use Bit Crush or Posterize Glitch for reduced precision, Compression or Chroma Crush for codec-like damage, Bit Plane or Byte Stride for data reinterpretation, and the remaining block or wavelet tools for spatial breakup.
In this section
Bit Crush
Reduce colour precision into harsh bit-depth bands and crunchy posterized steps.
Glitch Blocks
Corrupt rectangular regions with shifted blocks, breaks, and displaced image chunks.
Compression
Simulate aggressive JPEG and block-compression artifacts, ringing, chroma loss, and repeated damage.
Chroma Crush
Reduce colour detail while keeping brightness sharp, creating the colour bleed of low-bitrate video.
Bit-Plane Slicer
Expose or mix binary bit planes for harsh digital contouring and low-level channel structure.
Byte Stride
Reinterpret image bytes with stride offsets so rows, colours, and memory order misalign.
Posterize Glitch
Posterize colour levels with glitch-biased channel offsets and broken tonal steps.
Sample & Hold
Freeze sampled pixels or regions into stepped held values for digital stutter and blocking.
DC Block Shift
Offset block-average colour components for low-frequency channel jumps and codec-like shifts.
Teletext
Render blocky broadcast-text colour cells and coarse teletext-style signal graphics.
Wavelet Smear
Smear decomposed image detail across scales for spectral blur and broken compression texture.
Use it in the app
Open a project and find Glitch → Byte & Color Damage in the effects picker. Choose the specific tool, then select its layer in Layers to open the Effect Panel. Related modes may share a mode dropdown at the top of that panel. The pages below explain source requirements, first adjustments and conditional controls for each tool.
