Stroke
Draw an outline around the layer alpha, useful for stickers, captions, logos, and cutout emphasis.
Add Stroke
Prepare an isolated image, text or shape with transparency. Put this effect after that source; use a self-contained group to keep its input separate from the rest of the composition. Choose Layer → Border → Stroke in the effects picker, or search for Stroke with Cmd/Ctrl + F. Select the new layer in Layers to open its Effect Panel.
Outline the silhouette
Start from a layer with a visible alpha edge. Set Width and Color, then choose Position to place the outline inside, outside or across that edge.
Finish the outline
Adjust Opacity and inspect fine edges at full preview quality. Put the effect inside a self-contained group with the source if only that object should receive the outline.

Set an individual colour
Click the relevant colour swatch to open its picker. Colors and Palettes explains colour values, transparency and the canvas sampling controls where available.
Compare and finish
Toggle the layer eye to compare with the incoming composition. Use the Effect Panel footer for opacity and blend mode, or add a mask to limit the affected area. In Video or Live, use the function menu on a supported control to add keyframes or a driver.
