Blur Effects Overview
Compare madphase blur modes: uniform, Gaussian, box, motion, zoom, spin and tilt-shift blur.
Choose a tool
Use Gaussian or basic Blur for broad softness, Box Blur for a flat average, Motion Blur for a direction, Zoom Blur for radial smear, Spin Blur for rotation, or Tilt Shift Blur to preserve a sharp band.
In this section
Blur
Soften the whole image with a simple radius blur for quick defocus and texture blending.
Gaussian Blur
Apply a smooth gaussian blur with sigma control for natural defocus and soft masks.
Box Blur
Average pixels evenly across a square area for a flat, graphic blur.
Motion Blur
Smear pixels along a direction to imply camera movement, speed, or wind-driven motion.
Zoom Blur
Radially smear pixels toward or away from a centre point for crash zooms and impact pulses.
Spin Blur
Blur pixels around a centre point to create rotational motion and spinning smear.
Tilt-Shift Blur
Keep a focus band sharp while blurring away from it for miniature, lens, and depth-of-field looks.
Use it in the app
Open a project and find Layer → Filter → Blur in the effects picker. Choose the specific tool, then select its layer in Layers to open the Effect Panel. Related modes may share a mode dropdown at the top of that panel. The pages below explain source requirements, first adjustments and conditional controls for each tool.
